Compost Workshops
Discover composting methods that work for any space – including apartments. Find out how to recycle kitchen scraps and plant waste to enrich your garden soil, conserve water, and reduce waste!
Deconstruction Trainings
Deconstruction, also referred to as salvage, is a cost-effective and environmentally responsible alternative to conventional building demolition. Learn step-by-step techniques to dismantle buildings sustainably, maximizing material recovery for reuse and recycling.
Participants who complete this training will receive certificates and will be eligible to be listed in a database of available deconstruction workers.
Fixit Clinics
Join us for a fun, community-based Fixit Clinic where volunteer coaches will help you repair broken household items such as electronics, appliances, toys, and more. We’ll provide a workspace and specialty tools to help you troubleshoot and provide routine maintenance.

The County of San Mateo Sustainability Department is hosting a free tire recycling drop-off event for San Mateo County residents. There is a limit of 9 passenger or light truck tires per vehicle, as required by state law. Tires accepted at this event must be size R19.5 or smaller, with or without rims. Please ensure the tires are deflated. Tires from commercial, auto repair, and/or salvage businesses will not be accepted.
