Using Translation

The County of San Mateo has added a translation feature developed by Google Translate to assist web visitors in understanding information on this website in a variety of foreign languages. Please be aware that Google Translate, a free third party service which the County does not control, provides automated computer translations that may not give you an exact translation. The County cannot guarantee the accuracy of translations through Google Translate so translations should not be considered exact and only used as a rough guide. Anyone relying on information obtained from Google Translate does so at his or her own risk. The County disclaims and will not accept any liability for damages or losses of any kind caused by the use of the Google Translate feature.

Youth Exploring Climate Science

In partnership with the Parks Department and local non-profits, the Youth Exploring Climate Science program provides field-trip programming to outdoor locations across the county for 7th through 12th grade students. Students gain a stronger understanding of local climate challenges, such as sea level rise, biodiversity, and wildfire management, and see real-world examples of climate solutions.

Trips are now open to book! Check out the descriptions below for more information on how to book for the 2025-26 academic year!

The YECS Program offers the following resources to 7th-12th grade teachers and students in San Mateo County:

  • In-person field trips to Coyote Point, Cooley Landing, Stulsaft Park, San Bruno Mountain, and Skyline Ridge, depending on availability and unit topic.
  • Student Worksheets for each field trip to ensure student comprehension and engagement.
  • Pre-trip video lesson for teachers and students to solidify foundational climate change knowledge and intro to subject material prior to the trip.
